Abstract:
During this talk, Thijs will present the latest security research of the Semantics, Cybersecurity and Services group at the University of Twente and highlight opportunities for collaboration between the ACTION Institute and the University of Twente. He will discuss ongoing projects on Threat Analysis, Detection & Response; Malware Analysis & Forensics; Automated Vulnerability Research; and Privacy-Preserving Machine Learning.

Biography:
Thijs van Ede is an Assistant Professor at the Semantics, Cybersecurity and Services (SCS) group of the University of Twente. Before becoming an Assistant Professor, Thijs worked as a PhD student on automating threat detection in the context of security operation centers. During this time he visited UCSB to work on reducing alert fatigue in security operators by introducing a semi-automated method for triaging security events. Currently, Thijs’ work focuses on automating threat detection and mitigation using AI methods.
